Greetings Absintheurs!

As the month of December draws near, I have the shop holiday schedule to share with you.

No shipping will occur on these dates:

December 24

December 25

December 26

December 31

January 1

January 2

January 6

If you are buying absinthe or absinthe accessories as gifts, consider this busy time of year and buy as early as possible. Remember that - depending on where you are shipping to - packages may take an extra day or two due to the volume of post and packages that delivery companies all around the world are moving.

We recommend that international packages are ordered by the end of the first week of December to best avoid delay. This includes any New Year's supplies you may require.

Stay warm and well! Cheers!

Butterfly Absinthe - an American original returns

Historically, Butterfly Absinthe was a 1900s, pre-prohibition American absinthe produced in Boston, Massachusetts by P.Dempsey & Company. Thanks to the research of American absintheur Brian Fernald, the legendary absinthe is back and although it is now produced in Switzerland, it retains the character of the original recipe from Boston.

Now distilled by world class absinthe producers Artemisia-Bugnon in Couvet, Butterfly is a taste of the American past combined with the expertise of Claude-Alain Bugnon of La Clandestine, Angélique, and Opaline fame.

Although you'll love Butterfly Absinthe in the traditional preparation, here's a recommended cocktail recipe from Butterfly:

Absinthe Special Cocktail

2 oz Butterfly Absinthe

1/2 oz Gin

1/2 oz Gomme syrup

1 dash Orange Bitters

1 dash Angostura Bitters

Shake thoroughly, and strain into cocktail glass.

Never fear! Banish tarnish on your absinthe accessories with a little metal polish; I'm using some old dry Brasso pad here. Works beautifully and restores shine with very little effort.

Not just a curious thing of mechanical beauty, the Auto-Verseur brouilleur is a delightful way to louche!

Measure and pour the desired dose of absinthe into a glass and seat the device on the rim. Fill the top with very cold water and watch the drips of water see-saw down, delivered into the absinthe below. The historical Auto-Verseur is one of the most delightfully ritualistic ways to louche and perfect for preparing a single glass of absinthe at a time.

We recommend the Auto-Verseur brouilleur is used without sugar, as a cube in the cup may cover or plug the tiny hole, possibly disrupting the water flow. This makes the device ideal for Suisse la bleue absinthes, and less bitter vertes. Try a little simple syrup (sugar syrup) in the brouilleur cup with the water if you'd like a little sweetness.

Although building this shop has taken longer than I wanted (but trust me, the delay has made it even better than it would've been), the extra time has allowed me to arrange for more products in the catalogue and also has meant I've been given lower shipping rates than what I would've originally launched with! The change in table rates means that in some of the lower weight classes (under 9kg) I am now able to offer prices up to almost 8 Euros cheaper to the US, Mexico, Japan, Canada, and Australia! Even the lowest shipping rate is several Euros cheaper than only a month ago.
